I started cutting my hair to keep it looking fresh between haircuts and to fix my cut if the barber didn't do a good job. That led to me cutting my friends and families hair, eventually I ended up cutting hair after work and on my days off. I would charge $5 and some people I wouldn't charge at all.
Through the years my price went up from $5 to $10 to $15, $17 and now $23. I went to cosmetology school after cutting for 3 years and then barber school. After 4 years of working at a few different shops I open my own.
Richie's barber shop opened March 2014, 3 years later I moved it around the corner to a bigger building and opened a barber supply store in the original Richie's barber shop. Now it's been a little over a year and I'm still trying to move forward and grow the business. Hopefully in a few years I'll have at least one more barber shop and another supply store.
Through all of my career I saved money to create my dream, and without the help of my family this never would have happened. They've had my back from day one and they're always there when I need them. If theres anything you can take away from me its that hard work pays off! Thank you.
